The facility will be one of the first hospitals in the Southeast with all-private neonatal intensive care nursery and continuing care nursery rooms.

Inpatient care for medical and postsurgical gynecology, and gynecologic oncology health care are among the center’s new services.

Patients at UAB’s new Women & Infants Center postpartum and antepartum units will have access to highly trained physicians involved in research initiatives aimed at developing the most advanced treatments in maternal and neonatal care.

Once construction of the Women & Infants Center is complete, UAB will be home to the largest and most family friendly regional neonatal intensive care and continuing care nursery academic unit in the country.
