The Renal and Renal/Pancreas Transplant Unit provides care for patients who have received kidney or pancreas transplants, both immediately post-operative and on readmission for problems or complications.

Patient Population

• Adult

Number of Beds

• 28
• 2 Step-Down Beds
• 1 Outpatient Procedure Bed

Nurse/Patient Ratio

• 1:4-5

Rotation/Shift

• 12 hour shifts 7a-7p and 7p-7a
• 4 week master schedule
• Work every 4th weekend

Skill Mix

• Registered Nurse - 70%
• Patient Care Technician - 30 %
• Clinical Educator

Nursing Unit Orientation

• 6-8 weeks
