General Surgery Unit



The General Surgery Unit cares for adults undergoing complex surgery, including Whipple’s, liver resections, colon resections, roux-en-y, mastectomies, hernia repairs, appendectomies, head and neck resections and multiple laparoscopic procedures.

  • Adult and geriatric patients undergoing gastrointestinal and oncology surgery

Number of Beds
  • 34

Nurse/Patient Ratio
  • 1:4-5

Rotation/Shifts
    12 hour shifts, 7a-7p and 7p-7a

Skill Mix
  • Registered Nurse - 74%
  • Patient Care Technician – 26%

Nursing Unit Orientation
  • 6 weeks with preceptor
